Shell Bottles One-of-a-kind vintage bottles locally crafted.
Kay’s shell bottle series uses old bottles as a pedestal to display marine life. Many of the bottles date to the 19th and early 20th centuries. The bottles vary in color and shape, some embossed with the manufacturer’s name. There are bottles that contained sperm whale oil and others that contained medicines of dubious use. Kay loves the idiosyncratic qualities of the bottles. Matching the specimen to the bottle becomes a type of treasure hunt – form, shape, and color play off one another. Each specimen is amazing with its unique beauty. These delicate shell bottles evoke a sense of wonder, something we want to share with you.
